 Outline

This course will run over two weeks (with a break for Thanksgiving) and focus on basic mitten knitting techniques. Homework knitting may be required.

Students will learn to make a basic mitten with a thumb gusset for optimal fit. Instruction will be given using double pointed needles. 

  • Class 1: Cast on techniques, discussion of ribbing options
    • Homework: Knit the mitten to the top of the thumb gusset
  • Class 2: Finishing the fingertips, adding the thumb

Prerequisites

Students must be comfortable with basic knitting stitches.

Students should have some experience increasing, decreasing, and knitting in the round using any method (DPNs, Flyers, 9” circular, magic loop etc.).
